Cannes Film Festival to screen Iran doc ‘Starless Dreams’

Iranian documentary ‘Starless Dreams’ directed by Mehrdad Oskouei is to be screened in Cannes Film festival.

The 76-minute Iranian documentary “Starless Dreams”  directed by Mehrdad Oskouei has succeeded to join the lineup of Iranian films for Cannes Film Festival which is going to be held from May 17 to 26.

The documentary depicts the lives of 7 young women in an Iranian juvenile detention center on the outskirts of Tehran. It reflects the situations that have formed their personality and the crimes that they have committed.

‘Starless Dreams’ has taken part in several film events and has won different prestigious awards.

The film won the Amnesty International Film Prize in Germany as well as the True Vision Award at the 13th True/False Film Festival in the US in 2016.
